Team Baird has recently returned from 4 months on ice competing in the European Cup circuit, which was one of the most successful development seasons of any British pilot. This season has been our most successful seeing us develop into a fully functioning team and being able to race at all European tracks after gaining the vital experience we needed. Not only this but we also pushed for top results in the field.
This season left us ranked 2nd in Great Britain in 2 manbobsleigh and saw us step into the world of 4 man. Next season we are looking at targeted World Cup races and potential spot at the World Championships in Switzerland, provided we can obtain the sponsorship and support.

He made his GB debut in Winterberg on the Europa Cup (EC) circuit in December 2019, when he finished 24th alongside Taylor Lawrence.
Adam made 28 appearances on the EC circuit before stepping up to World Cup competition in Lillehammer in January 20224 when he placed 17th in the 4-man with Ally Kay, Jens Hullah and Luka Williams. He was 17th in his first World Cup 2-man race in Sigulda a week later and was 13th in the 2-man European Championships at the same venue the following day.
Adam earned selection for the 2024 World Championships in Winterberg in the 4-man competition, finishing 18th with Hullah, Austin Millward and Callum Dixon, and he ended the season with 14th and 15th place finishes in the 4-man and 2-man respectively at the Lake Placid World Cup in March.
A serving member of the Royal Marines, Adam began his bobsleigh career competing for the Marines and the Royal Navy in 2017. He comes from an active sporting background, having competed at national level in powerlifting - for which he has a 247.5kg deadlift personal best in the 82.5kg category - as well as rugby union and rugby 7’s for the Royal Marines and rugby league for the Royal Marines and Royal Navy teams. His time in the military has seen multiple deployments around the globe, including a tour of Afghanistan in 2010.

He made his World Cup bow in the 4-man in Lillehammer before featuring in the 2-man in Sigulda a few days later, finishing 17thpushing pilot Adam Baird in both events. He earned selection in both disciplines for the showpiece event of the season - the World Championships in Winterberg in February and March - as he capped a superb maiden campaign with 23rd position in the 2-man with John Stanbridge and an 18th-place finish with Baird in the 4-man.
He ended the year placing 14th in the 4-man in Lake Placid, taking his total number of World Cup appearances to three at three different venues on two different continents. Jens made his international debut in the Europa Cup in November 2023 when he recorded a brace of wider podium places in the 2-man with Stanbridge and those two sixth spots were followed by a further seven EC races in the space of just seven weeks.
Prior to making the switch to bobsleigh, Jens was a rower for nine years, winning medals for Great Britain at both U18 and U23 level in the men’s double and men’s 8 at the European Championships. He was a British Champion no fewer than four times and he set British Universities and Concept 2 British records, as well as celebrating two race wins at the Henley Royal Regatta. Outside of competitive sport, he has an undergraduate degree in sports coaching.

Injury delayed his GB debut but he eventually made his first competitive appearance in Lillehammer on the Europa Cup (EC) circuit in November 2021, when he finished tenth and then seventh on successive days alongside pilot Adam Baird.
He had represented Great Britain 21 times by the end of the 2023/24 season, with 19 of those appearances coming in EC competition and two on the World Cup circuit.
Alex's World Cup debut came in January 2024 when he finished 19th with John Stanbridge at the home of sliding in St Moritz and the pair improved that position by five spots in Lillehammer later that month.
He earned selection for the 2024 World Championships in Winterberg but work commitments as a mechanical aircraft engineer meant he was unable to participate.
Since a young age, Alex has been a keen mountain biker who occasionally competed in downhill events, while he was also the RAF's deadlift champion for his weight class in 2019.

He made his international debut at the Europa Cup event in Lillehammer in December, racing four times in a week across both the 2-man and 4-man competitions. He finished ninth on his 2-man debut with John Stanbridge and then 10, 11th and 13th with the same pilot in a trio of 4-man races in Norway.
Callum featured a further four times on the EC circuit between December and early February, with another ninth place alongside Stanbridge in the 4-man in St Moritz his best result. He was then selected to the GB squad for the World Championships in Winterberg, where he finished 18th with Adam Baird, Jens Hullah and Austin Millward at the biggest event of the year. Another milestone followed in the final race of the season as he made his World Cup debut in Lake Placid when he pushed Baird to 14th place in the 4-man.
Before switching to bobsleigh, Callum played rugby and competed in both powerlifting and strongman, with his decision to start the latter coming after a parachute accident in Italy resulted in a broken back and massive injuries to his arm. As an active member of the Parachute Regiment, Callum has done a tour of Afghanistan and was involved in the evacuation of Kabul.

Luka Williams joined the British Bobsleigh youth set up in 2018/19, earning selection as one of three young men hoping to make the Team GB squad for the Youth Olympic Winter Games in 2020.
Luka missed out on a Youth Olympic spot to William Scammell by the narrowest of margins, finishing a single point behind his team mate over the four qualifying races.
He has since returned to the set up as a senior athlete and was selected for the Europa Cup squad for the 2022/23 season, making his full debut in the 2-man event alongside John Stanbridge when he finished 15th in Lillehammer in November.
A successful 100m sprinter with Team Bath, Luka’s introduction to bobsleigh came via a recommendation from his athletics coach, Julie Alexander. He has a personal best of 7.1 seconds for the 60m and 11 seconds flat over 100m.
Luka also excelled in rugby union and was part of Bath Rugby’s developing player programme and their academy set up. He played county rugby for Somerset and studied sport under the Advanced Level Apprenticeship in Sporting Excellence programme at Bath Rugby’s feeder school, Beechen Cliff. He is currently a student at the University of Bath, studying Sports Performance.

He had featured in 14 EC races by the end of his second season in 2023/24, having stepped up to make his World Cup debut in the 4-man discipline behind Baird in Lillehammer in January 2024.
Ally was selected in the GB2 squad for the World Championships in Winterberg in February and March 2024 but didn't feature in the competition itself.
Outside of bobsleigh, Ally works in the Civil Service and is an officer in the Army Reserves. It was through the latter that he got his first taste of bobsleigh, although it wasn’t the smoothest of starts as he broke every bone on the right side of his face and had four metal plates and pins inserted as a result of a crash in Winterberg at the 2020 Army Championships.
Ally previously competed in fencing, reaching British Championships level before the switch to bobsleigh.

Austin Milward can lay claim to a rare feat as he made his British Bobsleigh debut not on the Europa Cup, North American Cup or even World Cup circuits but at the 2024 World Championships.
Austin joined the GB set up in the summer of 2023 but injury prevented him from racing until the showpiece event of the season in Winterberg in March.
Having only ever taken part in training on ice, Milward stepped into Adam Baird’s 4-man sled for the biggest event of the year, finishing 18th in Germany alongside Jens Hullah and Callum Dixon.
Prior to starting life as a bobsledder, Austin played College American Football in the United States. Having been medically discharged from American Football due to Grave's Disease, he headed back to the UK and was spotted training in the gym at the University of Bath by Baird and was subsequently encouraged to switch sports.
He previously enjoyed success in judo and in rugby but now has his sights on making an Olympic Winter Games.
Outside of sport, Austin spent part of his childhood in Russia and now runs his own business focussing on young men’s development, including strength and conditioning and therapy. He has also written a book.
